Health Care For All New York (HCFANY) is a statewide coalition of more than 115 organizations dedicated to winning affordable, comprehensive, and high quality health care for all New Yorkers. HCFANY works to bring consumer voices to the policy conversation, ensuring that real consumer concerns are reflected. HCFANY also provides expert policy analysis, advocacy, and education on important health reform issues and policies that affect New Yorkers around the state.   • YI and HCFANY Blog About the ACA’s Fifth Anniversary

    YI, NY: In honor of the ACA’s fifth anniversary, Young Invincibles (YI) and Health Care For All New York (HCFANY) blogged about five ways the ACA has changed health insurance for Millennials and New Yorkers, respectively. YI noted that 5.7 million young adults have gained coverage since the passage of the ACA and HFCANY highlighted that over 2.1 million New Yorkers have enrolled in coverage through the Marketplace since it launched in October 2013.

    NY: Health Care for All New York blogged about Governor Cuomo’s recent announcement that over 2 million New Yorkers have enrolled in the NY State of Health Marketplace. The blog explains that 98%, or 1.8 million, of these new enrollees did not have coverage when they enrolled and, according to a recent survey, 92% of enrollees are satisfied with their health coverage. The blog looks forward to final numbers from the 2015 Open Enrollment Periods.

  • HCFANY and SCAA Celebrated In-Person Assisters’ Impact

    NY: Following the New York State of Health’s enrollment report release, Health Care For All New York (HCFANY) issued a press release highlighting the important role that in-person assistors played during the 2014 open enrollment period. Kate Breslin, president and chief executive officer for the Schulyer Center for Analysis and Advocacy, stated, “A strong network of about 9,000 in-person assistors - such as Navigators, Certified Application Counselors and brokers - helped nearly 50 percent of applicants enroll. The report shows how critical this assistance is, particularly for low-income consumers, as 59 percent of those enrolling in Medicaid got in-person help."

    NY: Health Care for All New York’s (HCFANY) Children, Youth and Families Task Force hosted a webinar on November 30th highlighting New York’s activities in developing a consumer assistance and enrollment framework. The webinar featured findings and recommendations from a Community Service Society and Empire Justice Center report – Connection Consumers to Coverage: The Role of Navigators and Consumer Assistance Programs in Implementing Health Reform in New York.
  • HCFANY Submitted Comments to CMS on the Proposed Data Elements for the Single Streamlined Application

    NY: HCFANY submitted comments to CMS on the proposed data elements for the single streamlined application. HCFANY recommends 10 general principles to be incorporated throughout the application to ensure easy enrollment and limited administrative burden on states.
  • CYF Released Informational Guides on the ACA

    The Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Task Force, organized by the Community Service Society of NY (CSS), the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy (SCAA) and the Children’s Defense Fund-NY (CDF-NY), released three Quick Sheets on how the ACA will affect: (1) children’s oral health; (2) children’s behavioral health; and (3) promoting “seamless” coverage.
