The Maryland Citizens Health Initiative Education Fund, Inc.

The Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative established the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition in 1999. It is the state's largest health care consumer coalition with over 1,200 diverse organizational members, including religious, health, community, labor, and business groups from across the state. The Initiative’s members want to solve Maryland's health care crisis by winning access to quality affordable health care for all Marylanders, especially children.   • Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition Announces Health System Forums

    MD: Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative Fund announced a series of public forums highlighting Maryland’s work to advance a new care model for hospitals focusing on preventive care and strengthening relationships with community providers. The forums will run from late January through early March across the state.

  • MCHI Thanks Outreach Summit Participants

    MD: The Maryland Citizen’s Health Initiative applauded and thanked stakeholders who participated in  outreach summits held in conjunction with the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, regional connector entities, and community leaders. During the summits, over 300 people shared best practices and resources to inform open enrollment strategies. The next summit will be held on January 26, 2015.

    MD: The Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative Fund launched an advertising campaign featuring Baltimore Ravens linebacker Lardarius Webb.  The radio ads encourage people to enroll by the March 31st deadline.

  • There’s Still Time to Enroll! Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative President Writes Op-Ed Leading the Way

    MD: Vincent DeMarco, president of the Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative, wrote a Baltimore Sun op-ed promoting the benefits and affordability of health insurance coverage available under the ACA and sharing enrollment opportunities before March 31st.  According to DeMarco, 230,000 Marylanders have already benefited from the ACA.

  • MHCFA Launched Ads to Encourage Enrollment

    MD: Vincent DeMarco, president of the Maryland Citizens Health Initiative Education Fund, was quoted in the Baltimore Sun about the 211 phone line campaign to help Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. residents enroll in coverage. The Fund is staffing the phone line and DeMarco said, “I think we’re really going to reach a lot of people. Some people just don’t know where to turn, and the 211 number is really easy to remember.”

  • KidsWell Maryland Partners Issued a Press Release in Response to CCF's report on Children Coverage Trends in the United States

    MD: Maryland KidsWell Grantees issued a press release in response to the Centers for Children and Families' report on children’s coverage trends in the U.S. highlighting that 3,000 more Maryland children were insured in 2011 compared to 2009.
  • Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative Education Fund Released ACA Outreach Materials

    Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative Education Fund, Inc. released presentation and educational materials used for outreach to the organization's coalition partners on what Affordable Care Act (ACA)  initiatives have gone into effect and what issues require a strong consumer voice to ensure effective implementation. Included in the materials is a presentation outline used for the Elev8 Learning Institute, a presentation deck providing an overview on the ACA and an Exchange handout developed with support from Community Catalyst which focuses on messaging research conducted by Celinda Lake.
