Who are the KidsWell Partners?

KidsWell Partners represent over 30 state and national children’s advocacy organizations. Our state Partners are active in California, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York, and Texas!

 

What are they working towards?

The Partners work together to increase access to health insurance coverage and to ensure successful health care reform implementation on behalf of kids and their families.

  • MCFJ was Quoted in an Article Applauding the SCOTUS Ruling on the ACA

    MS: Linda Dixon Rigsby, Health Law Director at the Mississippi Center for Justice (MCFJ), was quoted in a Clarion Ledger article  stating that the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling was good news for the state’s families and children and noted that insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to children with pre-existing conditions.
  • HCFANY Hosted Webinar on SCOTUS Ruling on ACA

    NY: Health Care for All New Yorkers (HCFANY) hosted a webinar to update stakeholders on the outcome of the Supreme Court decision. HCFANY also issued a call to action in response to the U.S. House of Representatives' vote to repeal the ACA.

  • MHCFA Celebrated SCOTUS Ruling on ACA

    MD: Maryland Health Care For All (MHCFA) hosted a celebration in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the ACA which took place at MHCFA's offices. In addition, MHCFA President Vincent DeMarco and Board Member Brian England were featured on FOX News.  

  • Florida CHAIN Featured in Media on Importance of the ACA

    During the week of June 11th, Florida CHAIN published an Op-Ed and Editorial (Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times), and was quoted in three articles  (The Guardian, and Tampa Bay Times) focusing on: (1) the importance of ACA provisions for state residents (e.g., Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) rebates, pre-existing condition standards, premium rate review program) and the state's refusal to implement these provisions and programs; (2) concerns regarding the Supreme Court's imminent ruling on the ACA; and (3) WellCare’s proposal to bid on the state’s new Medicaid managed care plan, which would require that all beneficiaries enroll in the Medicaid Medically Needy Program and pay monthly premiums.
  • TWH Hosted Educational Webinars on SCOTUS Ruling

    Texas Well and Healthy (TWH) hosted a series of webinars from July 3rd to July 9th with Community Educator Cheasty Anderson to educate individuals on the Supreme Court decision and how it will impact the law.
  • Texas Well & Healthy Encouraged State Leaders to Implement ACA

    TWH also worked with 16 local and statewide organizations, including the Children’s Defense Fund and Texas and Center for Public Policy Priorities, challenging elected leaders in Texas to start implementing the ACA to ensure that more children and families have access to coverage.
  • Texas Well & Healthy Released Social Networking Campaigns Promoting the ACA

    Prior to the decision, Texas Well and Healthy (TWH) released a list of five ways state residents can help spread the word about health care reform in anticipation of the Supreme Court's ruling on the ACA.  Recommended actions included: (1) joining TWH’s mobile text-messaging alert system which will send critical updates to member’s cell phones; (2) signing up to be a social media ambassador by posting to Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media sites as soon as the ruling is released; (3) signing up to share experiences through videos and letters-to-the-editors; (4) participating in a rally held in front of the State Capitol the day of the announcement; and (5) encouraging friends and family to become partners in the movement through email, Facebook and Twitter.
  • CPPP Highlighted Benefits of ACA Implementation

    The Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP) released a statement highlighting that due to the ruling six million uninsured residents will gain access to care. In addition, CPPP states that state leaders must act to make sure that Texan’s fully benefit from the ACA by implementing an Exchange, moving forward with the Medicaid expansion provision, and developing customer protection standards within the Texas Department of Insurance.
  • HCFANY Blogged About the Meaning of SCOTUS Ruling

    HCFANY published a blog post providing a break down of what the ruling means for (1) consumers; (2) small businesses; and (3) the state of New York.
  • HCFANY Promoted SCOTUS Ruling on ACA

    Health Care For All New York (HCFANY) hosted events on the day of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Cortland, New York City, and Syracuse. In addition, HCFANY published a blog post highlighting the New York rally with pictures and videos.
  • SCAA President Commented on ACA's Benefits to Children and Families

    The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy’s President and CEO Kate Breslin was quoted in a Capitol Confidential “React-O-Mat” article highlighting the benefits New York children, families and individuals have and will receive from the ACA now that it has been upheld. Ms. Breslin notes that this is an important time that the state continues to focus on ensuring that children and families receive the full benefits of the law.

  • CSS Issued Press Release on SCOTUS Ruling on ACA

    CSS issued a press release highlighting that the decision ensures that the state and nation will be physically and economically healthier by saving lives and taxpayer dollars that previously went to providing coverage to uninsured New York residents.
  • CSS Released a Brief on Potential Outcomes of SCOTUS Ruling

    In advance of the Supreme Court ruling, Community Service Society (CSS) released a briefing on the six potential outcomes of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the ACA and how each outcome may affect New York.  The briefing also provides an overview of how the state has been impacted and benefited since the ACA was enacted in March 2010.
  • Health Care For All Excited to Assist State with Implementing ACA

    Health Care For All issued a press release highlighting that the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition looks forward to working with Governor O’Malley’s administration to continue to build upon existing programs to fully implement the law.
