The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy is a statewide, nonprofit, policy analysis and advocacy organization working to shape policies to improve health, welfare and human services for all New Yorkers, especially those who are poor or vulnerable. Since 1872, the Schuyler Center has served as a voice for social and economic justice and policies that work for children, people living in poverty, and persons who are chronically ill and disabled in New York State.   • SCAA Testifies at State Budget Hearing

    NY: The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy testified before the Joint Fiscal Committees during the Health/Medicaid budget hearing. The testimony addressed SCAA’s support of: an increased focus on children’s oral health; the Governor’s proposal to ensure the Exchange has a reliable funding source; and funding for a Basic Health Plan.

  • SCAA Releases Report on Oral Health

    NY: The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy released a report on how New York can implement better policies to prevent dental disease in children. The brief notes that dental disease is not only harmful to a child’s development, but is also very costly to the State. The report recommends protecting and expanding community water fluoridation, providing universal dental insurance, expanding dental services in schools, and expanding the use of community health workers.

  • SCAA Releases Policy Brief on Confidentiality and Health Insurance

    NY: The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy released a policy brief on confidentiality  protections to ensure minors, young adults and adults who are non-primary policy holders  feel safe using their health insurance and do not forgo needed health care services.  The brief outlines recommendations for New York insurance companies to increase awareness of and improve confidentiality policies.
