  • CDF-TX Publishes Multi-Faith Outreach Toolkit

    TX: The Children’s Defense Fund – Texas (CDF-TX) published a multi-faith outreach toolkit for Texas Faith Communities titled In Pursuit of Justice for Texas Children. The toolkit includes key facts about children’s health in Texas, a state where 1.2 million children are uninsured and more than half of these children are eligible for coverage. The toolkit features resources to help congregations spread the word about children’s health coverage, including sample success stories, newsletter articles, bulletins, and social media posts. The toolkit’s Welcome Letter highlights that the communities’ “faiths call on us to help the least among us, and especially to protect children.”
  • KidsWell Texas Responds to Exchange Open Enrollment Kick-Off!!

    TX: Texas Well and Healthy (TWH) held a live tweet chat with Texas health coverage experts and MomsRising to help answer questions about the opening of the new Health Insurance Marketplace. In addition, TWH published a blog post highlighting the open enrollment period and issued a newsletter which included talking points to urge individuals to spread the word about the benefits of the Marketplace.

     

    The Center for Public Policy Priorities’ (CPPP) Associate Director, Anne Dunkelberg issued a statement highlighting the roll-out of health care reform.  In addition, CPPP’s website now provides links to a number of resources Texans can use to help answer questions they may have regarding health insurance, including the Kaiser Family Foundations Subsidy Calculator that gives personalized estimates of the premium rates and subsidies Texans can expect to see.

  • Have Your Insurance Exchange Questions Answered! CDF Texas Teams up with Healthcare Stakeholders to Host Public Forum

    TX: The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Texas, in partnership with the Texas Organizing Project, University of Houston Center for Children Law & Policy and Enroll America’s Get Covered America campaign, will host a public forum on Saturday, September 7th. The forum, Healthcare in a Changing Landscape, will educate stakeholders and consumers on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the new Health Insurance Marketplace that opens for business on October 1st. The forum will take place at the University of Houston’s Law Center and registration is available online.
