100% Campaign

100% Campaign is a collaborative effort of three KidsWell Partners – The Children’s Partnership, Children Now, and Children’s Defense Fund-California. Together, the 100% Campaign is working to ensure every California child has access to health care coverage.   • Action Alert! KidsWell California and New America Media Issues Call to Action and Holds Press Conference on Expanding Medi-Cal

    CA & NAM: The 100% Campaign issued a call to action to urge Governor Jerry Brown to expand Medi-Cal to 1.4 million Californians, including over 500,000 parents. The call to action provided talking points for phone calls, emails, and Twitter & Facebook posts.  In addition, New America Media published an article on their briefing that featured Mike Odeh of Children Now, Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan, and Anthony Wright of Health Access discussing how a delay in expanding Medi-Cal could affect low-income communities and children
  • Action Alert! MomsRising & CA Requested Signatures to Preserve Services in California Healthy Families Transition

    MomsRising & CA: MomsRising, in collaboration with KidsWell California, released a call to action for individuals to sign a letter to California Governor Jerry Brown requesting that he preserve health benefits for children with autism, specifically Applied Behavioral Analysis, as the state continues to transition children from Healthy Families to Medi-Cal.

    CA:  The Children’s Defense Fund – California (CDF-CA), in partnership with 100% Campaign, published a list of priority bills from the 2012 California legislative session to advocate for successful implementation of the ACA and will hold two informational webinars on October 1st and October 2nd.

    The 100% Campaign released a back-to-school checklist to help parents ensure their children are healthy and ready to learn when the school year begins.
  • 100% Campaign Disappointed with Budget Deal

    The 100% Campaign and other children and youth advocates issued a press release on June 21, 2012 expressing disappointment with the budget passed by the state legislature. The budget deal would eliminate the Healthy Families Program, California’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and move nearly 900,000 children to Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid agency. While the bill was still under review in the legislature, a coalition of over 40 organizations endorsed and submitted an alternative proposal that would transition a smaller group of children and included protections to improve children’s access to care. However, despite advocates' efforts the budget was signed by the Governor on June 27th.

  • KidsWell California Partners Blogged about Progress in Children's Health and Released Healthy Child Checklist

    In celebration of the third anniversary of the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), Michael Odeh of ChildrenNow wrote a blog about the progress they’ve made on children’s health and the work still left to do. In addition, the 100% Campaign developed a 2012 Healthy Child Checklist to remind parents of some easy ways to ensure their child stays healthy this year, including applying for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families coverage.
  • NASHP Call Showcased ACA Benefits to California S-CHIP Children

    On February 24, 2012 NASHP will host a Children in the Vanguard call to showcase a recent Urban Institute report, commissioned by The 100% Campaign, on where California's S-CHIP kids will be best served under health care reform. The presentation, by representatives of The 100% Campaign, will highlight the results of the research, as well as focus on the methods used and the thinking behind the analysis done in California. In addition to the Children in the Vanguard states, KidsWell grantees and state officials from New York, Mississippi and Texas may also be joining the call.
