Children’s Defense Fund - New York

The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Leave No Child Behind® mission is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. The Children's Defense Fund — New York (CDF-NY) focuses on creating policy and programmatic changes that will level the playing field for New York's children. CDF-NY’s research, public education, policy analysis, community organizing and advocacy is primarily focused on juvenile justice, health, early childhood learning, education and youth development. CDF-NY raises awareness about the condition of children’s health in New York, connects children and families to health care programs and services that help meet their needs, and works with statewide partners to coordinate support and form policy solutions for health care legislative action.   • New York KidsWell Partners To Host Webinars on Care for Unaccompanied Minors

    NY: KidsWell Partners Children’s Defense Fund-New York and Health Care For All New York will host webinars on October 23rd and 30th about care for unaccompanied minors in New York State.  The first webinar will focus on health care access and the second webinar will focus on behavioral health services.
  • CDF-NY Hosts Briefing on ACA and Uninsured Children and Families

    NY: Children’s Defense Fund – New York (CDF-NY) and partners in the Children, Youth & Families Taskforce organized by KidsWell New York, held a briefing on the ACA’s implementation and its impact on children and families. The event focused on the New York State of Health, New York’s health benefit exchange, and effective outreach and assistance strategies targeting small businesses, immigrants, and people experiencing health disparities.  Presenters included representatives from CDF-NY, the Community Service Society of New York (CSS), and Harlem United Community AIDS Center, Inc.

  • KidsWell New York Partners Held Meeting on State-Based Exchange

    The Children, Youth & Families Task Force of Health Care For All New York (HCFANY), in collaboration with the Children’s Defense Fund - NY, Community Service Society of New York, and the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy, held a meeting on May 9, 2012 in Albany. The agenda focused on the newly signed Executive Order to establish a state-based Exchange. In addition, Judy Arnold of the New York Department of Health will be featured as a speaker.
