The Maryland Citizens Health Initiative Education Fund, Inc.

The Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative established the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition in 1999. It is the state's largest health care consumer coalition with over 1,200 diverse organizational members, including religious, health, community, labor, and business groups from across the state. The Initiative’s members want to solve Maryland's health care crisis by winning access to quality affordable health care for all Marylanders, especially children.   • Op-Ed Highlighted ACA's Benefits for Small Businesses

    Brian England, a  small business owner and Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative (MCHI) board member, published an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun highlighting how his business has benefited from the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  England notes that the rising cost of health insurance has been one of the biggest barriers to developing a successful business. However, when England renewed his insurance in August 2011, he found that for the first time, insurance rates had gone down by 6% due to the ACA's MLR requirement.
