Engage Texas

Engage Texas was founded in 2010 to increase civic engagement through strategic campaigns and projects. Engage Texas’ long term goal is to create a culture of year-round civic engagement at both the state and local levels. Engage Texas works in conjunction with our 501(c)(3) sister organization, the Texas Civic Engagement Table, expanding on the foundation it lays with unlimited grassroots lobbying and political activities allowable to 501(c)(4) organizations. Engage Texas provides tools and resources to participating social welfare organizations to help them reach new levels of effectiveness and capacity in their own work, while building the connections between them to create a permanent, multi-issue and poly-tactical infrastructure for progressive organizations in Texas. Engage Texas will bring together organizations working on different issues and in different modalities for collective endorsements, independent expenditure campaigns, candidate forums and other political activities. Engage Texas is working to build a sustainable child advocacy infrastructure to ensure health coverage for children and youth. See the KidsWell Partner Texas Well and Healthy for more information on Engage Texas’ recent activities, accomplishments, and advocacy work and tools!

The Waco Tribune-Herald published an article highlighting a free seminar organized by the Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP), Texas Well and Healthy (TWAH), the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) – Texas, Texans Care for Children and Engage Texas designed to provide an overview of changes due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  The article noted that although the Supreme Court’s ruling on the ACA is scheduled to be released in the Summer, the organizations holding the event believe that it is still “worth the effort to educate people about the law in its current version.”  The same group has hosted similar seminars throughout Texas.
