MomsRising

MomsRising was developed by women to advocate for critical issues facing women, mothers, and families, mobilizing massive grassroots actions to highlight real world experiences. As part of the national KidsWell initiative, MomsRising is working with KidsWell Partners to enhance their social media and grassroots efforts to work toward ensuring all children have access to health care.   • MomsRising Launched National Story Campaign on Healthcare Coverage

    MomsRising: MomsRising launched a national story campaign to collect stories from individuals and small businesses on healthcare coverage in an effort to share them with various media sources and federal and state decision makers. MomsRising also released an interactive map to pinpoint where individuals have shared stories across the country.
  • In Celebration of Moms, MomsRising Holds Various Social Media Events

    MomsRising: In celebration of Mother’s Day, MomsRising issued various social media games, videos, posters and more to help moms adopt healthy activities. The resources included Healthy Mom BINGO, multiple tweet chats, a Google Hangout and a YouTube Live Broadcast.   • Action Alert! MomsRising & CA Requested Signatures to Preserve Services in California Healthy Families Transition

    MomsRising & CA: MomsRising, in collaboration with KidsWell California, released a call to action for individuals to sign a letter to California Governor Jerry Brown requesting that he preserve health benefits for children with autism, specifically Applied Behavioral Analysis, as the state continues to transition children from Healthy Families to Medi-Cal.
  • MomsRising and KidsWell Florida Announce a New Social Media Tool -Thunderclap!

    MomsRising & FL: MomsRising and KidsWell Florida announced it is testing a new social media tool – Thunderclap. Thunderclap is a “crowd speaking platform” that allows single messages to be mass-shared across social media sites (e.g., Twitter, Facebook) with the collaboration of 100 supporters or more.
  • Spring Training! MomsRising and Enroll America Team Up to Hold ACA Trainings

    MomsRising: MomsRising and Enroll America collaborated to hold four spring training webinars through the Get Covered America initiative to review various ACA topics including: an overview of the ACA’s impact on the nation, current and future; how to develop messaging around healthcare coverage; an overview of Medicaid Expansion and Health Insurance Exchanges; and an overview of MomsRising and Enroll America’s organizing strategy.

     

  • MomsRising Says "No on the Ryan Budget!"

    MomsRising: MomsRising released a call to action asking individuals to call Congress and urge their representatives to vote “No” on Representative Paul Ryan’s budget.  66% of the cuts in the Ryan budget come from programs for low- or moderate-income individuals.

    MomsRising & TX: MomsRising circulated a call to action urging individuals to join KidsWell Texas Advocates at their Texas Medicaid Matters March, Rally and Advocacy Day that was held on March 5th. In result of these outreach efforts, over 2,000 Texans attended the event!

     

  • Are You Celebrating the ACA's Third Anniversary? Use MomsRising to Help Promote your ACA Blog Posts!

    MomsRising: MomsRising announced that it will be cross-posting ACA blog postings from advocates on MomsRising.org in an effort to celebrate the third anniversary of the ACA. In addition, MomsRising held a short webinar on blog promotion on March 21st to share specific strategies for increasing blog views and sharing them with key audiences.

  • Budget Chatter! First Focus & MomsRising Release Twitter Storm on Sequestration Cuts

    First Focus & Moms Rising: First Focus and MomsRising, in collaboration with the Herndon Alliance, hosted a Twitter Storm and Tweet Chat on February 26th to highlight the importance of the ACA’s Prevention Fund and issued a call to action to protect the fund from the March 1st sequestration cuts. Another Twitter Storm and Tweet Chat were held on March 6th
  • MomsRising and California Grantees Teamed Up to Send a Letter with Over 850 Signatures to the California Legislature on Moving Children to Medicaid

    MomsRising & CA: MomsRising, in collaboration with KidsWell California Grantees, issued a call to action for individuals to sign a letter to urge the Legislature to oversee the state’s transition of children beneficiaries from the Healthy Families Program (California’s CHIP) and Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid Program). As a result of MomsRising and KidsWell California Grantee’s efforts over 850 individuals signed the letter!

    MomsRising & NM: MomsRising provided information to KidsWell Grantees about their Radio Podcast page on iTunes which publishes a weekly podcast.  The podcasts are hosted by Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, MomsRising’s CEO & co-founder, and features discussions with experts, celebrities, elected leaders, and organizations, including Kim Posich of the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty (see episode #37)!

  • MomsRising Published Stories Demonstrating the Importance of Medicaid

    MomsRising: MomsRising published a blog post by Emily Townsend, a MomsRising member, about how Medicaid helped her earn a PhD and take care of her disabled daughter. In addition, MomsRising conducted a story collection of members in Maryland (here, here, and here) sharing why Medicaid is important to them (Please contact MomsRising if you would like to use these stories as part of your campaign)MomsRising also posted a timeline highlighting what “MomPower” achieved in 2012. Achievements include preventing cuts to Medicaid, working to promote economic security for families, and working to end maternal profiling.
