: Texas Care for Children published its 2013 Texas Legislative report providing a recap of how the legislative session affected children

In addition to 220 bills introduced focusing on children’s issues, the report highlighted that the Texas legislature, with the encouragement of advocates, advanced 38 positive legal changes, supported 41 new laws, raised awareness about 22 new ideas, and blocked 17 harmful proposals for children. Specific health bills addressed in the 2013 legislative session included preventive services for low-income women and infants, family planning services, and immunizations. The report also highlighted multiple Medicaid Expansion bills that failed to pass before the end of the 2013 legislative session.
