: The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) released an analysis on how President Barack Obama’s proposed FY 2014 budget would affect children and families
. In regard to the health coverage for children, the proposed budget continues funding for implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and protects Medicaid from transitioning into block grants. Together, these will provide access to health coverage for 95% of all children and provide coverage to millions of low income parents. The President’s budget would also require the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to return unspent funds to the Treasury and decrease funding for School Based Health Centers and Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education programs. CDF concludes that the President’s budget invests in children and protects children and families from budget cuts.
