Ever Wonder How Medicaid Expansion Would Affect Retail, Restaurants and Hotel Chains? Read FCFEP's Report Here!

The Florida Center for Fiscal and Economic Policy released a report highlighting that if Florida’s Medicaid program is expanded, employers will save thousands of dollars in penalties. According to the ACA, employees with more than 50 full-time equivalent employees will be required to pay $3,000 for each employee who rejects to use employer coverage (usually due to the coverage not providing all services needed) and elects to use Premium Tax Credits through the Exchange. If Florida expands Medicaid, these individuals would have the option of receiving coverage through the Medicaid program which would decrease the potential for employer penalties.
